Safe. Simple. Smart

Sleep. The Secret to Recovery.

Hello and good morning Rockstars and Headliner.

This past week I have had conversations with a couple different clients coming from different stages of life with all the same key topics.

Sleep. Being Tired. The Battle that rages in the dark hours at home.

Today’s Fitness Friday newsletter is all about Simple Things we can do to help ourselves prepare for bed and build a routine to get more consistent sleep. Before I jump into a few staples of nighttime routines, yes sometimes our sleep is affected by medical conditions, and yes you should always consider that as an option when the basics are not working. That being said, these must haves will always help!

My newest revelation from an article I was reading recently was that:

  • For every Hour we sleep before Midnight is Worth 2 after!

Devices…what can be said about those may reach into the millions haha!..but they are a part of our lives for the good or the bad. So we have to be mindful of them as the hours grow long and we get ready to recover for another amazing day.

  • A great rule of thumb is to put all phones, tablets, and computers away 60-90 minutes before bed. This gives your brain time to slow down and let the sleepys start to build,

Journaling. Yes, take a pen to paper of your thoughts from the day, your wins, and your goals for the next day.

  • The best and most effective way to do this is to just write your thoughts as you think of them, weird at first I will admit to just write as you think if you can even write that fast haha :), but technique will allow ourselves to stop thinking about what we said wrong, the missed kick, the food we Should Have Eaten, tomorrow To Do LIst, the Client we Have to Call, What we will Do to Be Better Tomorrow and so on so we relax and sleep cause we have let go of the past, embraced the present, and have set ourselves up for the Future.

I think this is the best spot to stop at until next week where I dive into a topic I may know even better some practices to relax with some physical movement!

Until next time Rockstars and Headliners have a super day!
