Keep it simple
Last week we talked about setting goals, this week we will talk about setting attainable goals. We do this so that we can meet our goals, achieve our goals and produce success that we want in
-Less time
-With less frustration of over complicated methods
-And that we can be healthier as a new year start starts..
When I am thinking about hitting attainable goals I think about it in three different ways:
- Our first goal should be something that we can complete within 1 month
- Our second we should set for a time frame of three months
- Third goal within six months
A great way to keep yourself on track is to
Keep It easy
Keep it simple
keep it direct
…Meaning that we’re gonna stick to what we planned on and follow the process to do so.
A classic story that I like to think applies to fitness is the Tortoise and the Hare
Now you’re probably thinking what does Tortoise and the Hare have to do anything with fitness? But it does. 🙂
When we’re getting into a new program or a new Fitness routine we can’t go out with our hair on fire like a tortoise running the race as fast as possible, because what happens is we burn out early, we give up on our goals and then we don’t achieve the success and health that we deserve.
“Slow and steady wins the race” as I say from time to time, is key to change and making change into a routine.
Routines become a habit and habits hold for the long run.
I came across this idea called the 80/20 principle. I in fact did not invent this, but I will take all credit for all proceeds that come from this come this idea 🙂
Now back to what the 80/20 approach is:
The 80/20 approach means
-80% of our current habits stay the same.
-We will commit to change 20% of things we are doing now to actions we would like to have.
By changing only a small percent of our current habits let’s slowly change and see success as mentioned earlier.
80% normal behavior
20% to new goals, or actions
I think we stick to this 80/20% idea and give yourself realistic attainable goals, we can all have a much better and healthier new year!
