Strength Training to Infinity and Beyond

Why do we need to strength train?

Will strength training help us later in life…or as we age now?

Both and Yes!

Strength training is essential when we age for a couple key points and a couple healthy facts:

1. As we age we lose muscle mass and Muscle Size.

-We can lose muscle strength at a rate of 2-3x faster than we lose muscle mass as we age without proper strength training.

-We see the biggest loss to muscle fibers in fibers called fast twitch which if you are not versed in Exercise Physiology that is a fitness term for “Power Muscles”

-Lifting weight that challenges us can help reduce the rate of losing Power.

2. Sarcopenia

-This is a advanced form of strength loss that can act out in such ways as:

exhaustion and Low energy

feeling of weakness

unintended weight loss

low physical activity

slow walking

weak grip strength

3. Stronger Bones and Prevent Osteoporosis

-Strength training has the ability to slow the rate of muscle loss, muscle strength, and bone loss.

-Strength training like the kind we engage here at Rockstar Fitness is key to giving bones, tendons and muscle the load bearing resistance they need to stay healthier longer to help us age slower.

-Can you walk to help? Can you ski to add resistance? Can you play Golf to aid additional benefits and become a more well rounded human?…you Bet!

“If it Challenges You, it will help Change You”

4. Why do I care about Strength Training?

The answer may be a easier than a riddle in the local Escape Room; I care about you even if I haven’t met you yet or i have been pushing you to do a little more each week for the last 11 years to age safely, age powerfully, and age with the knowledge that you can go to Europe and hike a mountain, take the stairs to the top tall building, or pick up a new sport at the age of 70 or even 80.

“We see the World we describe.” 🙂

Make it a super day Rockstar Nation!
