Think Again. Start at the End.

As we get into Spring and start to Think Again about a few things we would like to do, things we need to do, and things that we would like to change, I ask you to think again of what you did that was successful because celebrating the wins is so important to positive gains in life….and the losses.

As I was reading the other day I came across a point that I have heard a couple times.

“We do it that way, cause we always have.”

This couldn’t be any more human than breathing 🙂

Today’s newsletter I share something that changed me, and challenged me to the ends of my abilities to rethink, relevate what is important, and make serious changes to things I have always done. I hope this inspires you to re-think your past to change your future!

I think it is important to share maybe not everything, but something of ourselves every once in a while

When I was 19 years old I was diagnosed with a rare genetic kidney disease. The concept of “Think Again” became a survival technique and a must-have.

Just a small info burst of what I had to think around through, and especially many times over again

-I gained 40 lbs of fluid all over my body in 2 weeks

-An LDL cholesterol level of 500

-A catheter surgically implanted into my heart for a new treatment that took 4 hours per session 2 days a week

-I had water build up so bad in my lower body my legs were 4x the size they currently are.

My new book “Think Again” inspired me to write this newsletter today as a positive outlet of change that can happen if we change our thinking only slightly,

When I was 19 I had to think as if I was an individual who had a:

-a heart attack

-a stroke

-I was obese

-an aging headliner looking to enjoy their later years with purpose and longevity

Was I scared?….umm well I am a human so yep!…but

I started to Think Again

I think this is where I started as a trainer, a health professional, and certainly a human and a person who strives to be better, but how was the question..

I started to think of what it is that will give me energy, strength at the highest level, and energy to start at 5am and finish at 8pm.

So I started to research, think, try, and apply….but the thing that made my recovery successful was

-Great doctors

-Hard work

-To Re-think. To rethink my process of where I am today by starting at the end (today) and start to work backwards

Now you are thinking…Jake you always say start small, 1 day at a time, keep it simple?

I did that but I was able to know where I wanted to be

-40 years old

-Able to run, jump, play sports….or ref them haha 🙂

-Have the ability to do what I want when I want to

I started to build in better healthier food not 5 things a day….1 new each week

-Less sugar each week

-Less salt in my foods i select to put in my body

-Lots of water…if I can give you the most important thing I changed was thisL

**Hydrate…Hydration is King**

I didn’t invent the Nalgene bottle by any stretch….but man thank you to who did!!

Whether we want to

Lose 25 lbs

Gain more muscle

Have more energy for our kids, grandkids, or just for us! 🙂

We should try to think a little differently, re-think where we want to be and start to build positive blocks of success to get there.  because what we have always done is not what we will need to be on top of your fitness mountain.

I believe in you, and if you don’t yet I am here to push you along.

Thank you for reading my newsletters. You are truly a part of a special and Fun Community.

This newsletter took 22 years to write and I hope 5 minutes to read.
