Snacks. A boost of Energy and Health

As we move into November and get ready for cooler temps this is a great opportunity to enjoy the wonderful healthy foods of the season as well as the very noticeable leaf changes.

Today I will give you 5 foods to maximize your health and make each daily snack better!

-Blueberries-

Blueberries are a great quick snack on the go and to add more bang for your buck they fight heart disease and Type-2 diabetes.

-Apples-

Apples are a staple here in the Granite state in the fall and make an excellent pick me up in the afternoon for some much needed energy and healthy carbs.

Apples helps fight heart disease, Type-2 Diabetes, and according to The American Journey of Clinical Nutrition in 2020 research has shown that it can lower the odds of developing Alzheimer’s Disease.

*Look up fun and healthy recipes that feature apples – homemade applesauce is always a fall favorite! Add in raisins for added texture.

-Pears-

Pears are another fruit that is heart healthy and packed full of vitamins for the whole body including vitamin C and potassium which helps regulate your heart, nerves and make sure your muscles are firing the way they should!

-Cranberries-

Colorful fruits -including vibrant red cranberries- have a lot of benefits that go beyond their fun exteriors 🙂

Cranberries red color is from anthocyanins.

Anthocyanin is what gives the cranberry it’s red color and it’s ability to fight free radicals. Free radicals come from sunlight. So cranberries are like a food sunblock 🙂

-Squash-

Squash couldn’t be more fall even if it tried! With its orange/yellow outside it matches the leaves; they’re soft inside and are just perfect for your eye health! 

Squash is packed with beta-carotene which will keep those peepers going strong for years to come!
