Walking..How important can this be to our Lives!?

Hey Rockstar Nation and welcome to the end of 2024 and the start of a new year and a New Journey in Fitness 2025!

When we think about the old classic pastime of fitness we think of many things from

-Calistatics

-Jumping Jacks…maybe your favorite 🙂

-Touching Shoulders, Knees, and Toes

…and maybe the most basic Walking

When most of us think of walking we think of many different things, but what we can agree on is that it is a great way to

  • -Get outside
  • -Get vitamin D
  • -Moderate cardio

As we get stuck more inside, on our phones, tablets, computers or streaming the next binge-worthy show we have forgotten our friendly walking shoes!

How can Walking Improve your Health?

  • -Starting with 2000 steps a day every additional 1000 steps/day accounts for a 15% reduction in all causes of Mortality
  • -Walking 7000-13000 steps per day can reduce Cardiovascular Mortality Risk up to 49%
  • -Sedentary Adults with Hypertension who increase their steps by 3000 steps/day or about 30 minutes of Walking per day will see a significant drop in Blood Pressure
  • -Chronic Pain? Pain that causes an inability to be more active? Walking even short walks can improve mobility and decrease pain.
  • -Family History of Dementia? Walking 4000-8000 steps/day can reduce your risk by up to 50%

Wow! Was that a fact-astic onslaught of health benefits of walking, but where do we start you want to know?

  1. Start today
  2. -Add 5 minutes to end of your next workout and if that workout is walking….walk an extra 5 minutes
  3. -Start Small
  4. -Walk at a pace that you can’t have a conversation for 50% of the Walk, and a slow pace that you can talk the ear off a Late Night Talk Show Host
  5. -3 Days a Week

Because Consistency Builds Habits, and Habits build Behavior Change, and Behavior Change is what gets you the results you need!
