May is the month donated to Fitness all over the US.
At Rockstar Fitness I think about fitness in simple terms of
Strength training
-2-3x per week
-60 minutes each session
Conditioning
-3-5x per week
-30+ minute each
-This can be biking, running, walking, hiking, or many water sports like Kayaking
Stretch or Foam roll
-3 times per week
-10 minutes
What about personal health? Does that qualify for May Fitness?
You bet it does! because without you…who is getting healthier 🙂
First question we have to ask ourselves:
Did I take 5 minutes today for you?
As we get into prom season, final exams, end of season conference tournaments we should think:
Did I take 5-10 minutes for me today?
This can be anything from
stretches before you go to bed to give yourself more blood flow through your body for better sleep to play at your best
Walk 10-30 minutes right as you wake up to be mentally sharp at your morning meeting or presentation.
Eating a snack of veggies and or fruit mid-day so you don’t feel starved when 5pm rolls around and you grab the quick fix that isn’t as healthy 🙂
This can be also be a simple as reading a good book because what doesn’t matter as much as the why.
The why should be an extension of a benefit for You and only you. A selfish comment from the outside, but really we need to be selfish to attend goals that are important to us to help us live a stronger, healthier life to give us energy to last all day.
It’s time for a break….not the Kit-Kat kind.
