When the Pandemic started in 2020 I said I would eat more colors of fruit and veggies through a healthy smoothie or snack in the morning, mid-morning and afternoon snacks…and maybe even a nighttime snack to settle down for a long winter’s nap
Fun references aside to a famous winter classic, let’s look at how we can eat more colors of fruit and veggies.
This idea of eating more colors of food has been around since longer than I have been here talking about it, that’s for sure. It comes in many names like the Mediterranean diet…but man do I dislike the word “Diet”.
This idea of eating more colors is not a “Diet” it is a healthy way to get you a little closer to your goals 1 fruit or veggie at a time!
It can be as simple as this:
-Apples (red)
-Beets (red)
-Oranges…?
-Bananas (yellow)
-Pineapple (yellow)
-Broccoli (green)
-Peanut Butter or peanuts (brown/…tan for the artist on this email haha)
With the use of fruits and veggies through the food rainbow we can give ourselves a fun boost with things like:
-Iron for strength and muscles health
-Dietary fiber for digestion
-Natural sugar for energy
-Vitamins and Minerals for many things like healthy skin, bone health, strength for long days at the office and a boost to the brain!
