Strength. Power. Energy for all Day.

Active & Recovery

Happy Memorial Day weekend to all the veterans and to all the families of the Rockstar Nation!

This weekend is about giving thanks, having fun with family, and enjoying time outside for the start of summer here in the Granite State!

In that spirit let’s take a couple minutes and think about ways we can make this weekend a little more fitness-y and less sit and be still.

Relaxing and relaxation is certainly apart of a well rounded mental health strategy, Yes, but did you know…and if you read these super funtastic newsletters each week 🙂 you probably are thinking what I am thinking:

Active Recovery is a Cheat code for better fitness.

Active Recovery is defined as light to moderate intensity activities that involve a slightly elevated heart rate.

Ideal heart rate:60-70% of your max heart rate

Simple math:

220-(your age) x (.65 or >70)

Active Recovery Benefits

  • Boost Blood Flow
  • Reduce soreness and flush out metabolic waste
  • Lower stress levels

What can that look like on a holiday weekend like the one this weekend??

Golf 9 Holes

Walk in the woods

a. 20-45 minutes

Hike one of the 52 with a View mountains

Swim in a Heated Pool

Corn Hole…maybe if you add in planks in between turns haha 🙂

The key to a successful session of Active Recovery is to moderate your heart rate with some fun math skills or just do the Talk Test.

The Talk Test is that you are able to be active at a pace where you can hold a conversation with someone while doing your activity.

Have a super Memorial Day and have a super holiday weekend Rockstar Nation!
