Train with a Friend

1 Day. 30 minutes. 50 Years

Hello and good afternoon Rockstar Nation!

This week I finally decided to pick up a swim membership. Do I need to add in more heart health activities at least 1 additional day a week? Yes, for a purposeful reason and a fun one.

First was to invest in spending time with my wife doing something we both enjoy. We choose 1 day a week to partake in lap swimming which is one of her favorite things and a great and effective way to get more heart health and exercise.

Second, to help me rehab an aging shoulder so I can surf better for longer

My criteria was:

  1. something that can take 30 minutes or less to complete
  2. something that can be done on a repetitive basis (each week) and with a regular day and time to swim in my case.
  3. something close to my house or close to the Rockstar lair
  4. Involve Zone 2 conditioning or in other words moderate level of intensity

This decision comes on the heels of a mini-vacation we had taken to the wonderful, beautiful, and really sunny sands of Mexico.

Now that I have shared all about myself…how does this help you be healthier, stronger and gain more energy to tackle the day from sunrise to sunset??

The criteria that I put to use to pick an activity for me and my wife and can be used for anything…and because this is me writing this I hope you see where i am going with this 🙂

Activities that will add

  • Moderate conditioning
  • Strength
  • Energy that lasts all day but also doesn’t take all day. 😉
  • Helps you build more health to continue to be active into your 70’s, 80’s and 90’s
  • Reduces Alzheimer’s as we age
  • ….and for our Men over the age of 40 this will reduce of risk of problems in the bedroom!

But for the ones who want to do a little more to be a little better each week, each month to be better at the end of this year into next let’s grab your

pen and paper

notes on your iPhone

sticky notes

Write down 5-10 activities that you have wanted to do but haven’t been able to complete yet.

Keep it simple

a. Activities that will give you energy, add some strength, and build light conditioning that can be repeated 1-2 times per week around your already existing activities

b. 30 minutes or less that can be done at Lunch, before breakfast, right after work or after dinner

c. Involves a friend, wife, daughter, son, grandfather, employees

Now commit to it.

Pick 1 of your choices

Set a date to do it today

Why??

What makes the most successful people in any industry whether that be sport, business, family life, is they decide, commit, and force an outcome from their choice. If you say I will do it later… later usually never comes and we start this cycle all over again.

Let’s make our lives better, our strength more powerful, and our energy lift us up to tackle each day’s fun events 🙂

Have a super day Rockstar Nation!
